We parked the zine mobile outside the City Heights Remedy Garden, to which we were invited to by Val. Val along with others, puts a lot of time, sweat and energy into this garden of healing and culinary herbs and possesses impressive amounts of knowledge about the plants and the history of the garden. We got some traffic from the City Heights farmers market, which happens every Saturday. One of the most fantastic things about this market is that it accepts food stamps (not all of the San Diego farmers markets do). Val gave a walking tour/interview of the garden which can be listened to below. Zines were read and borrowed, the instruments in the musical library were played by some of the garden volunteers, coconut water was drunk and the sun poured itself down.
